We at Del Trueno Kennels believe the Dogo Argentino is a multifaceted dog; however its primary reason for existence has and always will be hunting.
We have found that hunting is a major factor in what gives the Dogo Argentino its balanced temperament. Just as the absence of hunting does not make for a more docile dog, hunting does not make for a more aggressive dog.
We feel that those whose clear intention is to change this gladiator to fit into a mold that it was not created for sooner rather than later will destroy the Dogo and it’s loving disposition. The Dogo is first and foremost a hunter.
We firmly believe that any breeder who is breeding without hunting in mind is doing a great injustice to this breed. The Dogo Argentino who was originally created to be a hunter, beloved family companion and guardian is still to this day exactly the same; there is no new role of the Dogo Argentino.
Confirmation to breed standard and health are also of great importance to us here at Del Trueno Kennels. We BAER test to confirm hearing and test for hips. We also compete in confirmation as we feel that doing our best to cover all aspects to ensure the Dogo Argentinos’ well being as a breed set apart from all others is of the highest priority for these mighty gladiators.
So, our vision is simple: We will fight to maintain the Dogo Argentinos’ working ability. Its future is no different that what its past has been, that is to be a beloved family member, guardian, and the preservation of the Dogo Argentino as a superior hunting companion.
